A Masterful Look at Van Gogh's Masterpiece

If you are a fan of Van Gogh's "Starry Night," you will enjoy Mary Tompkins Lewis' article in today's Wall Street Journal, entitled "Van Gogh's Transcendent Vision." One of my most favorite artworks, the original painting hangs in MoMA in New York, where it explodes from across the room in colors so glorious they must be seen to be felt. No reproduction comes even close.

Lewis' bewitching description of the painting and explanation of the context in which it was created provides a magic carpet ride through this fantastic landscape that will make you want to enroll in her art history class at Trinity. Or, at least, to reexamine Starry Night with new eyes.
